In basketball, the “front court” refers to the half of the court that includes the offensive team’s basket. When a team gains possession of the ball, they have 10 seconds to advance the ball past the half-court line and into the front court. Once they do so, they can set up their offense and attempt to score points.
The front court is also where most of the action takes place during a basketball game. Players on the offensive team will move around the court, trying to get open for a pass or a shot, while defenders try to prevent them from doing so. The front court is where players will typically take shots, make passes, and set screens to free up their teammates.
In addition to the front court, there is also a “back court” in basketball, which refers to the half of the court that includes the defensive team’s basket. When a team is on defense, they will try to prevent the opposing team from advancing the ball into the front court and scoring points.
